A new track to the series and wonderful weather saw the 4th round of the 05 Clubman kick off at the Timaru club in Margate. Despite a lower entry level than normal, due both to the geography and the weather, this round gave some of the Timaru home drivers a flavour of the series and the racing was close and competitive. The track proved ideal for these cars, having a great natural rhythm.

First up was Hard body TSRF. Concours winners were Mick Kerr, Bill Jenner and David Farrow. Surprise of the day was Newby to the series and home driver, Andy Bishop who borrowed a car, took immediately to the formula and Tq’d - then went on to win almost a lap clear of seasoned driver Graeme Stephenson. Stan Kirk and Paul Harwood also figured heavily in the race but were unable to catch Andy.

Lexan TSRF saw concours winners Paul Harwood, Mick Kerr and Bill Jenner take the bonus points and once again Andy Bishop TQ’d and went on to win followed this time by David Farrow, Paul Harwood and Stan Kirk.

1/24th TSRF (rapidly becoming known as “the Bat & Ball race” - due to the size difference between the Minis and Cameros) saw Concours points for Mick Kerr, Andy Brown & Paul Harwood with yet another TQ from Andy Bishop! This time Paul took the win from Andy, followed by Graham Sampson and Andy Brown-Searle.

Falcon F1 saw some interesting racing with perennial winner Mick Kerr TQ, but in the race, home driver Graham Sampson put in a superb run to take the win from Mike by 5 laps. Stan Kirk Graeme Stephenson & Paul Harwood fought for the other top 4 places with close totals. ABS entertained the other racers by putting his car in the barrier rather hard when he forgot which straight he was on - again!

Concours in the F1 classes went to Graeme Stephenson, Paul Harwood and Andy Brown-Searle.
In Limited Motor F1 Graham Sampson Tq’d but took a drama in segment 3 to end away done the list. Paul harwood took first, chased valiantly by Graeme Stephenson, Stan Kirk and Mick Kerr.
A great days racing on a truly excellent track! I hope we can re-visit Timaru next season and hopefull by that time I may work out which straight is which! Thanks go to all the Timaru guys who did such a great job running the meeting.
