The first round of the 05 Clubman Championship kicked of at the North London Club on the 6th of February.
This years series sees an additional class of racing in the Championship - 1/24th TSRF Retro Saloon. Bodies for this class are restricted to the following JK bodies;- Camaro, Pontiac GTO & Dodge Charger for those racing the 1/24th TSRF chassis and Betta 1/24th scale Minis for those wishing to run the class with the 1/32 scale TSRF chassis.

Lexan TSRF once more saw Graham Stephenson disappear into the distance by 2 laps, despite a solid TQ from Paul Harwood. New racer to the series, Bill Jenner took a Concorse award, along with Mick Kerr and Chas Keeling. Many racers found it difficult to come to terms with the grip on the track in this class, as it was higher than normally experienced in the series.

This was the first outing for 1/24 TSRF Saloon and the mix of the smaller Minis and “Yank Tanks” proved a really popular and entertaining race. The learning curve for these cars was obvious, with a number of breakdowns en route! Top 4 cars were a mix with Paul and Adam running Yanks and Mick & Chas running Minis. Some really nice cars were in evidence in this class with great looking cars from all contenders but the Cream of the crop came from Ralph Parker, Russell Gordge and Mick Kerr.

The first class up was, as usual Hard Body TSRF, TQ and winner was Graham Stephenson, showing the rest of the field the way home by over 5 laps! Strong Concours entries were Mick Kerr, and Ralph & Sandy Parker. The general standard of presentation in this class is getting more difficult to judge at every race, with judging now being split on points like wheel inserts and fine detail.

The Falcon Formula One Class is becoming faster and even more competitive with the introduction of the Falcon 3 motor in this years series, racing was fast and close. This class has to be one of the best “cheap” classes of racing available with cost controlled chassis. If anyone had told me you could have this much fun with a chassis for £27 and a motor for £7.35 a couple of years ago, I would have laughed!
Ltd. Motor F1 was won by Paul Harwood with a superbly set up car and the added advantage of a bit of “home track Knowlege”
